Principles
High speed PIV
In the beginning, use of Copper vapor laser and high speed drum cameras made the process, of obtaining and analyzing the data, time consuming. With advances in technology every day, these have given way to cameras with high frame rate along with high resolution. . The latest cameras use CMOS sensors which allow much higher resolutions than the older CCD types at high frame rates. With these advances, the experiment to result time is drastically reduced in High speed PIV. This principle is more valuable investigative tool where a detailed insight is needed in the temporal behavior of transient or unsteady flows.
